How Can I Become Free From My Guilt For My Wrongdoings? 1 John 1:9

What can you do when you have a load of guilt and feel that the wrongs you have done are so bad that nothing will fix them. What can you do? Is there hope? Yes, something can be done. In fact, the hard part has been done already.

The Bible says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9.

IF
The word "if" reminds us that there is a condition, that forgiveness and purity is not a universal automatic assumption. God as a right to ask us to admit that we are wrong.

WHAT IS SIN?
The Bible teaches that all wrongdoing is sin and that, "if you know what is right to do and fail to do it then for you it is a sin." (James 4:17) The Bible also teaches that God cannot ignore sin, but since He is holy He must judge sin and condemn it. Ultimately all sin is against God, and it is right for Him to be angry with us for the wrongs we have done against him.

HE IS FAITHFUL
He is faithful to His promise of the Gospel. He is faithful to His love for us, and so He offers forgiveness.

JUST
God is just as well as loving. He does not merely pass over our wrongs or a wink at them. He satisfies the requirements of moral justice.  For humanity, justice means eternal death, but God offers a substitute in our place. Logically, only a person without sin can pay for another's sin. And a substitute for the wrongdoings of all mankind would have to be infinite (or God) to pay for the sins of all mankind. Jesus fulfilled these requirements.

FORGIVE
God does not forgive the way we do. We may forgive but hold onto some little part, we may have trouble forgetting. But God puts our sins "as far away as the east is from the west," (Psalm 103:12). His forgiveness is perfect, and nothing is left out.

We can not forgive this way but God can. He can forgive because His anger has been vented in judgment and endured by his son, Christ, on the cross.

PURIFY
Purify here is both an action and a result. God acted by sending Christ to take the judgment on our behalf. God took the action, and we receive the result, forgiveness.

If you feel that you need to be purified from your sins then remember it is about the IF. If you confess and if you receive God's forgiveness through the justice of Christ's death on your behalf as a substitute for your sins then you can be assured by the promise of God that he accounts for you as righteous.

How To Know If You Are Going To Be Saved.

How do you know if you have eternal life is it only a foggy hope or is there something solid?

"And the testimony is this God has given us eternal life, this life is in his son, He who has the son has life he who does not have the son of God does not have life." 1 John 5:12.

GOD GIVES
Eternal life is given as a gift, it is not a reward or a payment. God gives it to us freely.

ETERNAL LIFE
This gift is eternal Therefore it cannot be ...
     * temporary,
     * only for a while,
     * until something happens,
     * until it is lost, or
     * it gets taken away.
Otherwise the Bible would call it something else.

HIS SON
Life is in the son. Jesus was with the Father since before the beginning, he came to earth and lived a perfect life without sin, he died as our substitute to pay for our sins; the resurrection is the proof that his death satisfies the judgment against us for our sin. He lives forever. Since he took our identity in death and we take his identity in life (and since his life is eternal) we may receive his eternal life.

Eternal life is free for us but it cost Christ everything he had to give.

HAS
There is a condition. Since God will not violate our free will he does not force the gift of eternal life on us- we must take it. We must choose to receive the gift. Those who take the gift of the son take the gift of eternal life.

ACTIVE PAST TENSE
Has is an active word, it is clear and means that something is a fact, either you did something or possess something. If you have received the gift of salvation through Jesus you have the gift of eternal life. If you have never trusted in the person and work of Jesus then do so today.

Does The Bible Say Where Sin Came From?

Many people are confused about sin. Where did it come from and why is it here?

"The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work."  1 John. 3:8, NIV.

At first glance this is an offensive statement, but a closer look shows a very bright and positive truth.

THE DEVIL
Sin had a beginning: the first to sin was the devil. Just why the devil turned to sin is a mystery though there are references to the event.* He has been sinning nonstop ever since. Sin is even described here as the devil's work, as in a chosen occupation.

THE ONE
Anyone who does what is sinful is someone who willfully practices sin as a habit that they have no control over. It is a lifestyle that shows your relationship to sin. There are two camps in humanity those who are Born of God, which are the people who have come to the Lord for salvation, adoption to son-ship and citizenship. The other camp is "of the devil." That does not mean they are somehow "Sons of the Devil," because he does not beget offspring rather he stole humanity from God, as told in Genesis, and many have not yet found the light of God's love and salvation.

SON OF GOD
The good news is that Jesus, the Son of God, came with a purpose, he appeared boldly and bodily to undo the work of the devil. He redeems man from bondage to the devil's camp by dying to pay for sins that keep man in bondage.  Christ's death and resurrection makes it possible for those who want to leave darkness and come to the light. His life becomes our life and through him we are able to live righteous and beautiful lives.

Let us choose wisely which camp we are in and be careful not to do the works of the other camp.

To learn more about God's plan to rescue us from the devil's came choose the "Gospel" tab above.

What Happened When Jesus Died on The Cross?

To some people the death of Jesus on the cross is the most important event in human history. Just what happened that makes the death of Jesus so significant?

The Bible records some events that occurred when Jesus died,
The Scriptures also records a commentary about his death by one of the witnesses, The Apostle John, when he says, "This is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins." 1 John 4:10.

FIRST
The death of Jesus was Our Father's greatest expression of his love for mankind. He did not wait for us to love him or earn his love, his love acted first. He acted for us while we were estranged, rebels, living in defiance to his authority.

SECOND
Jesus was sent. He did not come as an afterthought. His entry into mankind's history was on purpose. Before God breathed breath into Adam God knew he would send Jesus for Adam's rebellion.

THIRD
Mankind had an insurmountable problem that was a need mankind could not satisfy or meet- mankind's sin had to be paid for, mankind needed atonement. Atonement is the payment that removes the barrier between God and man. The barrier is sin.

God out of his love for us sent his son to meet the need. Jesus became the atoning sacrifice for mankind. Jesus paid for the sins of mankind and made eternal salvation available to any who receive it. Those who receive the atoning sacrifice of Christ are brought back to a relationship of love, service and fellowship with God their Creator and Savor.

CHRISTIANS
The reason so many people are passionate about Christ's death on the cross is that they are aware that they cannot save themselves from their sins and they know that God does for them what they couldn't do. Through the death of Jesus they are brought back to an eternal relationship with God.

To learn more about how you can have this relationship with God click the tab above titled The Gospel.

Is God In People?

Does God live in people in some mystical way; do we all have the light of God in us, and do we contain some divine spark that will bring us to oneness with God?

"If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the son of God, God lives in them and they in God." 1 John 4:15. NIV.

ACKNOWLEDGE
This is not the just a mental assent, or an agreement with a tradition or history but a public statement of personal conviction. It is the same as confesses, declaration or to proclaim something to be true. This is to go beyond agreement that Jesus lived and died but to embracing him in a personal faith.

WHAT WE ACKNOWLEDGE
We must agree that Jesus is the son of God. To say Jesus is the son of God is to say he is, he always was and always will be God. It is to say that God himself came to us in a human form and lived a holy life that was sinless from conception to the time he returned to heaven.

The Bible shows Christ lived a life of good works, loving acts, restrained power, and divine insight. He demonstrated his divinity by forgiving sins, calming the storm, walking on water, healing the sick, raising the dead, and more acts of love and compassion than can be listed here.

THE CONDITION
We are all made in the image of God but he does not dwell in us until we make this confession because we have the issue of sin, and The Lord can have no fellowship or companionship with sin. Jesus being God had no sin to pay for, so when he sacrificed his life on the cross he accepted the punishment for our sins. He satisfied the judgment and the resurrection proves that the judgment of sin is fully paid. Just as Jesus accepted to himself the punishment for our sins we can accept his righteous life. We must believe and receive the salvation God offers through the sacrifice of his son and our confession is the public acknowledgment of the truth that God has come to live in us.
