Did Jesus Do Everything Or Do I Do Something To Get Saved?

We understand that Jesus died to pay for our sins so we can come to God but is there something we need to do to finish what he did, is Jesus death just a starting point and we do the rest?

"Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him because he always lives to intercede for them." Hebrews 7:25. NIV.

ABLE
Jesus is sufficient. There was enough of what he did and does for all mankind who has or will live. Christ's death is not just a patch on our sins. It wasn't just a good start for us. He is completely able. He does not need our help. If he needed our help in even the smallest bit there would be the threat that we did not do enough or the right thing, and salvation would always be suspect and liable to compromise. Someone who could have been saved may do the "whatever" not quite right and miss salvation.

If Christ was only able to do 99% of what needed to be done for salvation then why only 99%? If he is God he should be able to do it all. If we were able to do 1% then why can't we do 100 %? It is because we can't do anything to make right even the smallest sin that Our Lord must be able to do it all.

Our Lord must be able to pay it all or none of our sins are to be paid for at all.

COMPLETELY
Jesus knew his sacrifice was enough and nothing more needed to be done because on the cross he declared, "It is finished." (John 19:30). We do not have to finish what he started to get saved, he did it all. Our eternal life is given totally. His resurrection proves that there is no longer any punishment to be done.

ALWAYS LIVES
His resurrection demonstrated his power over death and that he has eliminated the threat of death spiritually for now and physically in the future. He is seated at the right hand of God and will be forever.

INTERCEDE
Jesus is the living intercessor for us since we come to God through faith in him and his work on our behalf; our faith is good as long as he lives and since he is living forever our faith once placed in him is good forever. He stands between the judgment of the Almighty and us as the one who has satisfied the judgment against us by paying for our sins.

When we trust in Jesus as our savior we are completely saved; Jesus said, "I give them eternal life and no one shall snatch them out of my hand." (John 10:28).

All that is left for us to do is to, "believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved." (Acts 16:31)

What One Thing That Will Please God?

Is there something we must do to please God- some task or duty?

"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe he exists, and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him." Hebrews 11:6.

IMPOSSIBLE
This is the saddest use of the word in all literature. To say it is impossible to please God robs man of all hope of nobility and dreams of salvation; but the implication is that with faith it is indeed possible to please God.

COME TO HIM
This verse speaks as if coming to The Lord is not a dream but a reality, that there are those who do come to God because they believe he exist and they believe he rewards their searching him out.

Those who come to God here are described as those who earnestly seek him.

FAITH
The Bible speaks much about faith. It says:
     * Faith comes by hearing and that by the Word of God, (Read the Bible) Romans 10:17.
     * We are saved by faith, (trust God's promise), Ephesians 2:8-9.
     * We can pray to ask Him to help our faith. Mark 9:24.
     * A little faith in a great God works mighty miracles. Luke 17:6

Deeds of service and sacrifice do not by themselves please Our Father in Heaven but they must be expressions of faith. Faith is the key to all things concerning God.

It is not the amount of faith you have but what you have faith in that counts. If our faith is in something weak the results will be weak, but if our faith is in an almighty all-powerful God then the results will be awesome.

What Does The Bible Say About Reincarnation?

There are many theories about the doctrine of reincarnation. The basic idea is that death is not final and we get a second chance by coming back to life. Does the Bible teach some kind of second chance?

"Just as people are destined to die once and after that to face judgment." Hebrews 9:7, NIV.

At first glance it looks like God's Word is negative about our afterlife, but the Scripturese also teaches God is love and he made a way.

JUDGMENT
There is some kind of judgment but judgment can be satisfied. Though God's Word teaches judgment is necessary because of sin, it  also tells of a substitute has taken our judgment and punishment.

JESUS TOOK THE JUDGMENT
Jesus took upon himself the judgment that is due to those who sin, (See Romans 3:25-31 and Isaiah 53:5). The sins that we were guilty of are paid for in the death of Jesus; and the resurrection of Jesus proves that judgment is no longer binding on him or those who are his.

OUR PART
The question that we need to answer before we enter eternity is the question of Jesus, because as the Bible says, "Whoever has the Son has life and whoever has not the son of God does not have life.*The Lord has done everything for us; he has made the way fair for all. He sent his only son and that son took our sins on himself and endured the mega-storm of God's wrath and judgment in our place- he did it all and all that is left is for us to participate by believing in his sacrifice for us.

THE ONLY JUDGMENT LEFT
The only judgment is the judgment you make about Christ. To receive Jesus is to receive life to reject Jesus is to reject his offer of free salvation and face judgment alone, (John 3:36).

What Is So Special About The Blood Of Jesus?

People talk about the blood of Jesus; but what is it about, and what is so special about it?

"But now in Christ Jesus, you who were once far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ." Ephesians 2:13, NIV.

WE NEED THE BLOOD.
We are far from God because of our sins. This verse tells us that the blood of Christ brings us to God- not our good deeds, giving, sacrifice, or even our religion. Nothing gets the credit for bringing us close to God except the blood of Jesus.

When Christ hung on the cross he bled. The Bible teaches the life is in the blood. Leviticus 17:11; and the Bible teaches that the blood makes payment for sin, because it says, "Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness." Hebrews 9:22.

NOT ANYONE'S BLOOD
It was not just anyone's blood but the blood of Christ. Christ had to be sinless and no one ever found sin in Jesus even though his enemies looked hard for grounds to discredit him and Pontius Pilot, a professional judge and Roman governor declared him innocent. Since he had no sin of his own to pay for his death could be applied to our debt of sin before God.

For Jesus to be Christ he had to be God incarnate, and he demonstrated his deity in power over nature, sickness, death, demons, forgiving sins, wisdom, and more ways too numerous to list.

Christ had to come for the purpose of saving and Jesus said he "...came not to be served but to serve and give his life as a ransom for many."  Matthew 28:20.

SALVATION
Our sins had to be paid for before we could have salvation and only the blood of Jesus could pay for our sins. The greater question is not what is so special about the blood of Jesus but what will be our response to his death on our behalf? Do we reject his loving sacrifice or accept his offer of salvation and eternal life?
